Joanna Tomlinson


Joanna Tomlinson is a singer, conductor,vocal coach and workshop leader.

As a singer she trained at the Royal College of Music and has sung as soprano soloist in much of the core oratorio repertoire including Brahms and Mozart Requiems, Handel Messiah and Haydn Creation.  As a choral singer she works with many of the UK’s top groups including BBC Singers, Gabrieli Consort and Sonoro.  She has given recitals for Guildford International Music Festival, Song in the City and Friends of Reading University Recital Series.

She has taught singing at Royal College of Music and Trinity Laban College Junior Departments, and at Bedales School.  She has worked as vocal coach for the National Youth Choir of Wales and the Polish National Youth Choir.

Joanna is the Music Director of London’s Constanza Chorus and the

Whitehall Choir and of the internationally prize-winning Farnham Youth Choir.  She has also worked as conductor or chorus master for BBC Symphony Chorus, National Youth Choir of Great Britain, London Symphony Chorus, Royal College of Music Chorus, Manchester Chamber Choir and Joyful Company of Singers.  She is Associate Director of East London Chorus and a tutor for Association of British Choral Directors.

She has led workshops for the ABCD, UK Choir Festival, London Choral Conducting Masterclasses, and the Gabrieli Consort, Philharmonia Orchestra and London Festival of Contemporary Church Music education schemes and has adjudicated for festivals including Cheltenham Competitive Music Festival.
